Senior Infrastructure Design Engineer

XeroQ is hiring a Senior Infrastructure Design Engineer for a client engagement. In this role you will own end-to-end infrastructure design across network, compute, telephony, platform, middleware, and database layers — translating business requirements into production-ready solutions and guiding them from concept through operational handoff.

What you will do

• Plan and develop complex engineering designs for network, compute, telephony, platform, middleware, and database solutions, and maintain the standardized guidelines and procedures that govern data center solution engineering.
• Own technology currency and capacity planning to meet established SLAs, and participate in hardware and software licensing, financial planning, and capacity planning for introducing and maintaining data center technology.
• Execute detailed infrastructure design on larger, complex internal projects, working directly with IT stakeholders, service owners, and partners to keep delivered infrastructure aligned with the design.
• Serve as the infrastructure subject-matter expert on emerging technologies, consult with IT teams, business areas, and vendors on network and data center changes, and present new technology overviews to IT and enterprise leadership.
• Provide operational readiness across the full lifecycle: performance tuning, systems support, incident and problem resolution, software installs and upgrades, and guidance on resolving production incidents.
• Work with the architecture community on technical roadmaps, strategies, and standards, and mentor less experienced team members.

What we look for

• Bachelor's or advanced degree plus 5 or more years of related infrastructure experience, or 7 or more years of related infrastructure experience without a degree.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with data center design and infrastructure, including networks, compute, and operations at enterprise scale.
• Working knowledge of IT architecture principles, ITIL or ITSM frameworks, and how they apply to infrastructure delivery and service management.
• Proven ability to produce and own detailed infrastructure designs for complex, multi-stakeholder projects — traceable from a résumé through project descriptions or employer reference.
• Experience consulting across IT and business teams on infrastructure decisions, including vendor engagement and technical communications to leadership.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience administering AWS environments and enterprise Linux distributions, including RHEL 9 and AIX, with Ansible and Ansible Tower for automation and configuration management.
• Experience with Red Hat Satellite for lifecycle management, patching, and compliance, and a track record of patch management and vulnerability remediation in large enterprise environments.
• Familiarity with security best practices and vulnerability management methodologies in data center contexts.
